This self-initiated project happened during the pandemic lockdown during my internship in CIRC Industrial Design, Shanghai, China. At that time almost all public spaces had limited accessibilities including various sports areas. This is also when I discovered the phenomenon that most people would build up their own sports places at home (for instance ping-pong table) through just using some simple and cheap materials like paper cardboxes, bottles in the middle of their dining table, in which way - to set up the ‘net’.
That was when I came up with this thought: what if there could be a design especially for people who live in limited apartments, but wants to get quick access to Ping-pong playing?
Normally, in Chinese people's homes, their tables are often covered with clutter, so it takes quite some time to clean up. Also, if your apartment does not have enough storage space, it can be a real hassle. The idea behind the concept sketch is quite simple: by adding another panel to the side of the table, it offers a more efficient, quickly-set-up structure.
also be used as a ping-pong table indoor. The structure is designed in a simple understandable way.
